The question

The evening and overnight economy runs on shift work, and rostering data records it directly: by industry, by hour, by worker.

What we observed

Large rostering datasets were analysed for pay, pay rates and job satisfaction across three countries, broken down by industry, age and gender.

The patterns were sharpest in sectors that operate after dark and in city centres, where the shape of work is changing fastest.
